My name is Gary and I live in Tinton Falls,NJ. Just got started in N scale about 3 years ago.  As I kid I had an HO layout that was over 40 plus years ago. Now living in a town home I had some space restrictions, needless to say N scale was my choice. Glad to be here.

Greetings Railwire,

My name is Scott Williams. I recently moved to Asheville NC, via a 4 year stint in Johnson City TN, after living most of my life in and around central Maryland. I was bitten with the Large Scale bug in J.C., TN and bought lots of ET&WNC narrow gauge stuff in 1:20.3 and Southern RR stuff in 1:29. Plans are to build that garden RR someday but the new house has a great bonus/4th bedroom in the basement that is calling to me to use half for my office and the other half for an N scale layout for wintertime RR modeling enjoyment.

Not sure what, [if anything], I'm going to do with it but thinking of building a loose snapshot of my home/roots area in central MD and maybe doing WM freight from the early 50's which precedes the era I remember from my youth rumbling through my hometown of Westminster by about 15-20 years. Who knows, I played with N scale about 30 years ago and wasn't thrilled with the performance of the cheap locos I could afford back then. Thinking of giving it another try as it seems things have improved a lot in N scale since the 80's.

This is Peteski from the Atlas forum. I decided to take this forum for a spin.  I already see quite a few familiar users here which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!   :D

Peteski,
Welcome.  The Warmth is all bacon (or fermentation) by products - the fuzzy likely comes from the people recently released from under Lee's layout - and who knows what they have growing on them.  We'll commence decon shortly.

Well, If I get to introduce myself three postings from peteski, then I am quite fortunate.  I am a PRR nut first, a steam nut second, and a nut any way you crack it.  I am hoping that this environment is as conducive to kitbashing as I found another forum to be and I see so many familiar ID's from there.  Looking forward to participating and sharing some of my hobby.

Oh crap!  I didn't realize that those warm and fuzzies were dangerous!  Thanks for the heads-up!  Please decon me ASAP!  I hope that decon is performed using lavender and rose extract becasue I'm highly allergic to tender water.

Hello,

My real name is Guillermo and I got here as a result of the whitless relocation program (sometimes I've been known to use the wrong word or fusebox). I have been in N scale since the days of the Bachmann CB&Q GP-40 and the original Atlas Santa Fe GP-9. I seem to be additcted to building layouts. My current project involves modeling part of the Wisconsin Central in, wait for it, central Wisconsin. The area of the WC I eventually settled upon was Neenah to Stevens Point (or so).

My boys and I will soon be producing some sort of travelling CB&Q -esque layout. More later...

What I seem to enjoy most about N scale is trying to simulate what I see in the real world. Its a real pleasure to watch the models grow to resemble actual locations I have visited. I am not a riviet counter per se. But I like models to meet a certain level of believeability. I also greatly enjoy "putting the tracks back". Over the last few years, I have visited Milwaukee's line west remnants and found inspiration there as well...

N scale remains a constant as it is the only scale that allows you to "see the big picture" and recreate those RR vistas in a manageable space.

My interests include the railroad that uses wheels. I have railfanned and travelled way too many places to just like one.

Thanks for listening. I'm done.

Greetings everyone. GimpLizard (another refuge from the Atlas forum) here.

For those who don't know me, I've been an N scaler for over 30 years. I've built a couple of small, and one medium, sized layouts in that time. I prefer smaller layouts. Because, for me at least, they tend to show progress more quickly. (I'm a rather impatient cuss. :D) And they're generally easier to take care of.

I'm currently in the "planning" stage of a new layout. I now have acess to a spare bedroom that would lend itself to a mid-sized empire. However, because I'm also a rather lazy tird , I've been in the planning stage for a couple of years already. I just haven't come up with a plan I can get excited about yet.

In the meantime, though, I am strongly considering building a "real" model railraod version of Aurora's old Red Ball Express layout from the late 70's. This is the "layout" that got me started in N scale. I've purchased some of the track & rolling stock I'll need for it. Now all I need is for some one to kick me in the.... backside. So I actually get started on it.

Anyway, I like what I see here at Railwire. A lot of the talented modelers I've come to appreciate, from the Atlas forum, look to be here. So hopefully I can continue to steal ideas from them.  8) Thanks for having me.

Mr. Neal is being modest, this WC layout is rather staggering in scope. Midwestern modeling done right! It will play well here in the layout engineering section, W! Soon to be a "famous" layout in my opinion!

¿Que? Do I need to incorporate something else into the plan?

Anyway, good to have more midwest talent on board! Can't wait to see the layout...

Hi there,

My name is Daryl and I live in the great white north of Canada (well it's spring now and it is not so white anymore).  I've found this forum through the Atlas forum closure. I really like what I see and it is good to join this group.

I am a N and HO scale modeller.  I am currently working on an expansion of my Canadian Pacifc N scale layout through the Rockies. I am modelling a compact layout from Calgary, AB to Revelstoke BC. I hope to post progress pictures soon.

Well it is good to be here and take care.

Daryl

Hi all.
Names Marty. I live in central NJ. At Christmas, we set up a large O layout. The rest of the year, I try to get started in N. When the Atlas website  shut down, there was a post where people talked about this site, so here I am. I'm looking for an N scale club central NJ club (Monmouth County ish). Also first question, how long efore the verifications stop? :) Apparently I stink at reading them
