I know, I believe I was on railwire's predecessor. All railroading or something like that maybe long ago - but now i'm back?

Good afternoon,
It's Ben, and yes, I finally got signed up for this thingamajigger. I'm sure a number of you know me already, but I'll still say hi to all nonetheless and provide some background.
After being an HO person since about 13 years old, I've jumped back into N (which is what Dad and I did before I was 13) once I moved to Baltimore (gag) from Pittsburgh after school. I got involved with the CRHS (well represented here, I'm assured), met Ed and the rest of the crew while living down there, and that turned my attention back to N from HO.
I plan to model Conrail in 1979, and that's about as far as I've gotten. I've been accumulating motive power and freight cars commensurate with the era, and am currently working on a track plan for an approximately 10x10 spare room in my townhouse.
I look forward to bouncing ideas and discussing things with everyone on here, so here I am, thanks for having me.

Ben,
Welcome. Ed, the CRHS, and Lee all seem to be responsible for most of our growth here . . . go figure. Always good to have another Blue Foamer in the group.

I am John from Northeast Wisconsin. I have a Unitrack table top layout I like to putz with. Other than building plastic structure kits, I am not what you would call a serious modeler quite yet. It seems I get the most enjoyment out of running trains and accumalating them. It's a hobby so I just do what I like best. LOL. I've accumalated enough hobby tools to tackle a laser kit. Preferably a grain elevator and depot for starters.

Hello everyone,
I was introduced to this forum by a fellow club member. I am currently much more interested in operations than detailing equipment, but I hope to learn a lot from everyone here on any railroad related subject. I am an N-Traker, but I realy don't like to run endless loops, I'd rather switch. My modeling interest are the Nickel Plate, N&W, Norfolk Southern, the Ohio Central and as a result of growing up within eyesight of Buckeye Yard, Conrail.

Nickel Plate? Conrail? Sorry, there's no one here by that name!
Welcome aboard!

While I do enjoy the occasional sight of a fire breathing beast I tend to be more of a diesel ALCOholic or GE junkie. I'm shure somday I will aquire a Berk, but for now my only steamy thing is a kato mikado.

hello everybody, my name is Jeff Wilson, i got back in the hobby about 7 years ago after moving to a town that acctualy has a model train store, ended up joining an N-track club and now am wanting more from operations to becoming a better modeler. I came across you guys following info on Elgin locos schnabel car and found i could learn from all this info so i joined, i've never done much in forums but I'll try to post something that i think is good enough, I like modeling the north west and mid west, BN mostly and her fallen flags.

Hello everyone. Scott Hoffer here from Morgantown, WV.. 32 Years old, I am a complete noob to model railroading but I am still building my first N scale and any scale for that matters train set.. lol...
I returned home from Iraq and Afghanistan recently and have decided this will be my hobby to keep my mind occupied. It seems to really help. My build thread with a video of what I have done so far is located here:
https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=25831.0
If you would like to help me out with my build, I am more than willing to listen and take notes.. Thanks so much

Scott,
Welcome to TRW, and welcome home. You will find a lot of camraderie here - a lot of our guys were or are active duty in one branch or another, and that sort of stuff shows up regularly in Crew Lounge.
You got the right idea about getting started - post a Layout Engineering Report as you did, ask some questions, and let the fur fly!

Thanks Phillip. Any word on what you think I should build in that open space?
