I Just joined this form the other day, thank you for letting me in!  I am a member of ntrak, however, in my club we do a 2trak layout that we sort of drummed up.  I do Desert scenes even though I am from the east.  I still love the WM B&O C&O Chessie era.  I am looking forward in being a part of this form and soon I will be posting pictures of some of my work.  Matt

Hi all,

I just joined up myself and am a member on a couple other forums. Some of you may already know me. I kept seeing references to this site and after some perusing some very useful posts here, I decided to join and become part of the community.

I am in the process of building a small 1' x 4' N scale switching layout, DCC controlled and while I have been in and around the hobby for most of my life, I still consider myself a beginner.

My name is Mike and live in Richmond, CA.

I was active on the Atlas board 4 or 5 years ago and have been out of the hobby since then.  Welp...I'm back in.  I am getting pretty set on modeling modern operations of the Richmond Pacific Railroad.  I am trying to restrict myself to a shelf layout with 22 inch width and 9 feet on each leg of the "L".

I'll start another thread asking for feedback on my current track plan.

I'm in the WC myself, so it's nice to have another Californian & CoCo County guy in the house.
Helps balance out all the ConRail nuts around here ;)

Seriously, StrasburgNut, welcome to the Railwire.  If you live in or around the Strasburg area or even southeastern Pennsylvania, you will find that you live among a decent-sized group of asshats who reside in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware that I met here and now consider my friends.  We have been known to hang out together at model railroad operation sessions, railfanning, and even Timonium train shows.

Also, I would recommend you look at joining the Conrail Historical Society ("CRHS"), which a number of us are members of, and provides yet another reason to hang out and even participate in 1:1 railroading from time-to-time.  The CRHS holds Rail-B-Qs around Harrisburg, Pennsylvania a couple of times per year, and many of us congregate for railfanning, volunteering to restore rail equipment, and the typical CRHS/a$$hat goonery.
