Hi!  I'm Mark.  Member since last spring.  Daily reader, occasional post.  Never had the time to participate in forums until earlier this year - lifestyle change.  I've been in N Scale since 1967.  I was a newlywed then, living in a small apartment and my first layout was a small under-the-bed 3X5 with a separate control panel stashed in the closet (you don't get much elevation with this type of layout).  Some years later, I built a small double-loop layout with some switching in the basement of the house which kept me entertained while I worked my butt off for years.  The first of this year I cut back my workload.  I have a good job and Social Security is sending me a nice monthly check as long as I keep breathing.  It was time to start my last layout.  Over the years I have accumulated enough stuff to keep me busy for a while.  I am a member of N Scale Collectors and Ntrak - although I am not a "factory air" guy, nor do I have a module.  My layout is under way and will be a transition era freelance based on the Virginian Railway with fictional interchanges with some other favorite roads.  I always go to Timonium, last year I went to the Springfield show, and I go to an NSC convention every 2-3 years.  I'll be at the one in Louisville next summer - I didn't go to the convention this year because it was in Boondocks, CT.  I'm a member of a few forums and my opinion is this is by far the best one.

I've been humping to get the oNeTRAK module done for Timonium.

I'll soon be working on "Summer Trees " for another module I'm doing. Those should be fun too.

I'm Erik.  I've been an occasional poster and regular reader of the Railwire for quite a while.  After about a 20 years hiatus, I returned to modeling and model railroading about 4 years ago.  I've been pleasantly surprised what a healthy amount of patience and detail orientedness has produced as far as my modeling goes.  I like this forum because the modeling is generally better than other forums and I feel like the participants, whatever their modeling level, are always trying to broaden their horizons and push their own envelopes.  I also feel like the critiques of my own modeling by other forumites have been valuable.  As modelers, I respect a lot of you guys.  Your stuff is inspiring and has motivated me to broaden my skills, especially where weathering is concerned.


Here’s a photo my wife took last weekend on the Cumbres & Toltec.  This is me with the prototype 6214.
