Not really new here.. I ruined the computer I had and forgot all of my login information and password. Took a few years off.. In any case I'm back for now , at least until I dump a soda on the keyboard.

Semi-new here. i had a username for awhile buit think it died. i mainly lurked since I'm an HO modeler. However, now with a thriving "cottage shop" decal business producing decals for East Coast roads I've come back.

I admit to knowing some of the asshats on this forum in public.

I primarily model Conrail/Chessie/Maryland & Pennsylvania 1978-1980 with a 70% proto to 30% freelance mix, changing history in the area I want to model slightly. I also do PRR/WM/B&O/MPA during WW2.

Greetings!  It's past time I said hello.  I'm a long time arm chair modeler finally ready to stand up and stretch my legs.

My interests have been greatly influenced by local history.  While I would love to model the South Pacific Coast Railroad, era creep and reality set in.  My main layout will be loosely based on the Southern Pacific's operations in the San Lorenzo Valley in the early part of the 20th century.  Lumber and lime are king are the trains are short.

I am a beginner n scale modeler with high hopes but with both feet firmly planted on the ground.  I'm here for inspiration, receiving constructive critiques, and learning new techniques.

I've been here a couple of months and think I'll be sticking around. My interests are Boston & Maine primarily although my some-day layout is Bellows Falls, VT, c1950. I've been in N scale since I was 10, I'm now 26.

You have my attention. I am an engineer and run trains through Bellows Falls often.

Welcome aboard gents. We're a generally friendly bunch, but if you want linear conversations we're not your forum. I see a couple of posts in Weekend update already, so thanks for jumping right in.

Hi everyone,
I'm Bob from Florida. I am retired from the electrical wholesale business and now I'm a pastry chef in a restaurant near where my wife and I retired. I joined therailwire today because I'm in the planning stages of building an "N" scale layout. I have built two "HO" scale layouts YEARS and YEARS ago. My wife and I have decided to work together on a new model railroad project. Someone on Trains.com posted that this forum had a lot of "N" scale interest, so here I am.
I was at a model train show at the Tampa Fairgrounds last year and saw a vendor with a table load of DCC decoders. I asked him what all of that was about. When he explained what DCC did, my jaw dropped.
I have a lot of questions and hope to learn a lot here. But first I'll want to look around and see if you've already covered some of my topics.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Bob Miller

Bob,
Welcome aboard.  Please remember to have exact fare for the conductor who will be walking through shortly - goes by the name of Tom Mann.  As a former St. Pete resident I know of which show you speak.  And probably all your favorite LHS's as well.

We'll trade layout advice for pastry any day

Hello Folks,
My name's Ron and I'm a retired (2005) Main Frame computer programmer. Married 50 years to the same woman. She deserves an award :).
N scales my game. I've built one layout, started three others never completed them. Planning a 4'x8' but can't make up my mind  about track plan.

References to TRW on other sites and decided to check it out. So far so good. I ain't got in no trouble yet 8).

Who's Mann and what's this about his head? ;)

See ya

Welcome, Rick.  I hope you enjoy your stay.  There's plenty of talent around here, as well as generosity for helping others improve his or her modeling, if you can deal with our unique sense of humor.  Don't be afraid to ask questions and, if you have the ability to post pictures of your progress, we crave that.

It might be helpful to review this, https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=28681.0, as The Railwire has an interesting reputation.

Hmm... no bananas or
termites...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
"It works! It works!"
