I have finally worked my way back through the "Introductions" to before I joined Railwire and realized that, although I have taken part in some of the discussions here, I have never formally introduced myself.  So, here goes!

My name is Greg Kennelly and some of you already know me either personally or through some of the other model railroad fora or Yahoo! groups.  I have been an N-scaler since the late 1960s and, except for a brief bout with freelance in the early years, my modelling interest has been the Pacific Great Eastern Railway since about 1970.  Originally, I considered myself to be a contemporary prototype modeller (as much as one could be a prototype modeller in N scale in the early 1970s).   Thus, when the Pacific Great Eastern changed its name to British Columbia Railway on April 1, 1972, my modelling followed suit.  I then found that, the more I researched the railway the more I became interested in the way it had been in the past.  I would now consider myself to be an historical prototype modeller focused on the Autumn of 1952, the middle of the steam to diesel transition period for the PGE - the first diesel (a GE 65-ton) was acquired in 1948, the start of steam scrapping was in 1954 and the last run of a PGE steam locomotive was in 1956.

My under construction layout is double decked in a 15' X 21' room and represents the Squamish Subdivision just prior to the opening of the extension from Quesnel, BC to Prince George, BC.  The southern extension to North Vancouver would not occur for almost another four years, so I am modelling the period when the railway was totally isolated from any other railroad except by sea - passengers arrived at Squamish via Union Steamship and freight cars arrived via tug and barge connection from Vancouver.

[CSXDixieLine - RIP 1/27/2013]

Hi everyone,

My name is Jamie Schatte and I live in the Atlanta area. I am modeling the modern CSX from Atlanta to Nashville via Chattanooga, although only two small segments (one in Georgia, one in Alabama/Tennessee) are actually represented on the layout. My layout is named the CSX Dixie Line because the prototype line I model traces its heritage back to the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis, which was also known as "The Dixie Line." The layout will eventually have three levels, two with scenery and one for staging. I have been working sparingly for the last three years and only the lower level has undeergone any construction. The southernmost modeled section has complete scenery, while the remainder of the lower level has roadbed only. I am currently in the midst of a construction blitz where I hope to have all lower level track in place over the next several weeks.

I have been actively involved in several online modeling communities but somehow have only recently discovered The Railwire. Not sure how I have missed this gem for so long, but I am happy to have discovered it. The quality of work on display here is outstanding. I joined a few weeks ago and have been going through numerous threads in amazement. I look forward to participating in the near future, but for now I am still catching up and feasting on all of the goodies this site has to offer.

Hello all.

For whatever reason I hadn't ever come across this forum before. I have been in N scale modeling since maybe 2001. I had been an HO scale modeler in my younger years - discovered girls and modeling had to sit by the wayside. I have recently become more active in modeling again after a hiatus of a few years.
