hey y'all, I don't know who remembers me from where or who doesn't even know me, so here goes:
My name's Sawyer (pronounced SAW-yer, like 'hey man, I saw yer boat over on the river yesterday), and I'm one of those crazy creatures, a teenager. I've played baseball, basketball, soccer, football, and rugby in my time, and plan to run cross-country next year. I'll watch any sport, but my two favorites are FOOTBALL and NASCAR (no, I'm not a redneck, although I am southern). I'll watch the NCAA, but I much prefer the NFL, and this past season was GREATTTTTT (check the username...). As for NASCAR, I like most of the drivers except for Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch (RCR, Penske, and Furniture Row are my three favorite teams).
For money I work as a shop helper at Tyler's Sanitation. I'll do yard work, wash trash carts, clean dumpsters, pick up trash, help fix/rebuild/service trucks, and basically just do whatever they tell me to.
I do a lot of advanced classes in high school (I have two AP classes for next year, along with honors etc, except for art, which is only available as a CP class)
I model my freelanced Carolina & Southern Railway, which is a class two regional carrier that, along with two other freelanced southeastern railroads (both also freelanced by me), form SERC (SouthEastern Rail Carriers), which allows them to compete with Norfolk Southern and CSX. I've downsized to a small layout, which you can see in the modeling projects subforum (or what do y'all call them?)
And for music, I'll listen to country and all the other ranges from hardcore screamo metal to hip-hop, although lyrics are a huge deal to me.
Anyways, Alex (Guiliford Guy) suggested I come here and continue to improve my model railroading skills, so I'm open to any/all criticism.
Glad to be here!
EDIT: Oh yeah, I almost forgot! I'm also the president of the Teen Association of Model Railroaders, and write the TAMR column in Model Railroad News (as well as some product reviews; I've only written one so far)

Sawyer,
Welcome aboard!  Nice to know the TAMR is alive an kicking!  ONce you get to the magical 20 post level, make sure to add the link to their website to your signature.

We'll be looking forward to pics of your layout, and while they guys here give a good razzing daily, we all manage to learn a lot from each other.  Alex and Caleb have brought great game to The Railwire, so if Alex sent ya, we have high hopes!

And finally . . . . while I married into a family of Packer Backers, the REAL football games happen on Saturday in the SEC - GEAUX TIGERS!

Philip, hehe, I pull for a different kind of Tigers in college; specifically those lovable, yet so wishy-washy CLEMSON TIGERS!!!  ;D actually met their coach at rugby camp this week, so who knoiws, that might turn into something, I hope...

Asshats on Parade? I just saw that banner, I think that I will like it here! Anyways, I am a N Scaler that loves the SP, getting real close to laying the first tracks of a switching layout. Here is my latest track plan for a AZ plan.

Hi all, I followed a link here from an Atlas thread and saw a very lot of people here that I recognize from at least two or three other forums. But wow did I have a hard time getting in. A warning kept coming up calling me a spammer, but I got to say that it’s not the first time this has happened. Must be a spammer out there going by “sleeper”.

Anyway, for those who don’t know me, I have 3 portable N-scale layouts two of which are 3x8s connected together as modular units. I still consider myself a newbie after only 4 years. I did actually finish my 1st layout with all the scenery and structures except for the ballasting.   It’s about that time I decided to start a larger layout and put it up in the rafters. Hopefully I’ll pull it down some day when I find a place to put it.

I have learned so much from most all of you here. Lee Weldon was one of my 1st mentors and although he may not remember me, he actually got me through my 1st layout. Then there are so many others here that I’ve been following for a long time like SkipGear, Chris33, Brakie. Inkaneer, and then John Sing which brought me here. And well I can go on and on, but I’ll stop here.

Hi,

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Marc Starmans and I'm from the Netherlands. During daytime I'm a civil engineer working for the largest dutch engineering company and my main field of work is the engineering of railroads. One of my projects has been the design of a High Speed Line in France.

Together with my brother Hans we're working on a N-scale layout featuring the PRR in the early 50's, which means lot's of steam and early diesels. As a sidekick we have also some NYC equipment. During more than 40 years in N-scale we have collected quite a number of PRR (and NYC) steam engines mostly in brass and some kit bashed. Concerning the brass engines I\m quite fortunately as normally these engines don't have good running qualities, but my brother Hans can get anything crawling.

I have been forwarded to this forum by a couple of good friends and do hope to find lots of interesting information here.

Marc

Hi.
I'm M.C. Fujiwara.
Lee saw some of my stuff over on the MR forum and said I should be an A$$hat.
I've already been called a butthead before (thanks, darling wife), so I figured an A$$hat would cover me just fine.

Then I looked around here and found a thread Lee started ("Worthy of a second look...") that directed people to my MR forum thread.
At first I was flattered.

I tried to register here.
"Registration is closed" and "Server is down"

I figured it was some A$$hat joke, and I was the butt (wouldn't be the first time).

Then I realized that Lee wrote the thread title to mean my work was worth only one second of your time.

Well, that did it.

As I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, I couldn't (quickly) run over and TP Lee's house, so I did the next best thing: I contacted John and demanded that I be let in, or else!
So here I am.

I'll be starting a few threads shortly, to "pun"ish you all with detailed construction notes from my 23"x41" Mt. Coffin & Columbia River layout, as well as some other projects I've got going.  As I've moved (on average) once a year for the past 11 years, I'm really into smaller, portable layouts.  You can check out a bunch of designs I've worked on at the Layout Design Gallery on my website http://www.yardgoatlayoutdesign.com/7.html  (have no idea how that hyperlink button works. sorry!).

I've been posting on other forums (especially Trainboard) for a while now, but I see some people here whom I very much respect (yes, you too, Lee) and so it'll be great to get some feedback & share ideas with you amazing modelers.  Thanks for having me!

[and am I the only person who has to "Request another image" five or six times to actually decipher what the #(@$# those letters are for "Verification"?  Dang I'm blind...]

Welcome! Having read your work on MRH for a while now, I have to agree with Lee that you belo here. Hopefully your forum workload won't be too impaired by adding posts here. As to TP at Lee's house, you will have to get past a lot of us to get there.  :)

Thanks!
This place seems very "homey" with some good sense of humor.
Every forum has its own feel & focus, but I'm excited about what I see going on here.

The line to get him is that long? ;)

Lee was very generous to go out of his way to invite me here.
I've been digging his WM layout work for a couple years now, so its an honor to be included.
Hope I can contribute something more than bad puns ;)

Thanks again for the welcome!
