the aluminium paint on the shaft of the brake cylinder punched me to the floor , the ref. even had the time to count 10 ...

Except now the engine wont move, the bare metal showing means the brakes are engaged! :D

Very impressive Steve!  Craig needs to put your work on his splash page!

I'm esp. impressed at how neatly the grabirons came out, do you use the BLMA drill templates?

Steve....That's not fair. Nobody should have skills that good. You need to give me some of that tallent since you've obviously got plenty to spare. Really though, incredible work!

After Steve's post, I'm a little embarrassed, but here are a couple I'm working on:

My shortline, Maple Leaf Central SD35 #27:

A fictional SD40 Snoot CP#5654 ex BCRail:

Thanks for not laughing at my photography (or modelling) skills.

thank you...
no, I use the molded on grab irons as a drill template. first I use a little center punch/scriber, then I drill the holes and then I remove the molded on grab irons...

...yeah right !   ;)  thank you for your compliments Ron

btw, I haven't seen your Maple Leaf Central engines upclose before (only the samll one in your TB signature) and I like the idea with the Maple Leaf "a la" PacMan on the rear end - cool...  8)

Thanks Ed!

I weathered the container first, applied a white speed lettered decal (from a Microscale SP diesel set) to represent the cleaner container side from where the original lettering was - and then lightly re-weathered again. I've been wanting to try this project sometime and am happy with how it has turned out. Reminds me I need to speak to a custom decal maker though.....
