These were found while looking at the site from the backgrounds thread.

http://www.howardmodels.com/supplies/onlineorderform.htm

Not perfect, but they might be worth checking out.

Ed, I tried emailing that guy some time ago. I figured, since he did the Mopar line in two scales, he's probably working with a process that's adaptable, and recommended he give 1:160 a try. Never heard a response. :(

If I saw this thread title in the Crew Lounge, I'd have been afraid to click on it...

I just bought 300 of those.

I need them to fill up my ConCor Autorack cars I am upgrading with Plano see-through pannels.

They actually look better than the picture and they are about the same size as Busch cars.

I like the TomyTec (Tomix) collection series. They come in sets of generically marked boxes (cars in 3's [x12 boxes], trailers [10 boxes and they include a truck cab also] and trucks [12 boxes]). About 50 bucks shipped from Japan. Works out to less than 1.50 per car for cars with rolling wheels and plastic window 'glass.' And just over 4 bucks a truck and 5 for a tractor trailer. They are designed to be sold like American trading cards (baseball cards). Except its basically one of each style in the big box with the possibility that one item will be replaced with a 'special' or 'secret' item instead. The special car/truck/trailer is just as nice as the regular ones so I don't care that I got a few special items instead of the normal ones.

Trucks: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10054842
Trailers: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10054252

Bandai makes a line called "Working Vehicles" boxed similarly. Not quite as nice a vehicle, but they come with a mini diorama (bit of street and a figure or two) along with the vehicle, all the vehicles in a box the same general type, for example set 7 is 2 styles of TV vans. Twelve to a box, under 60 including shipping to the US.

He gave the Z scalers a quote with a minimum of 3,000 pieces (or something equally outrageous).  His process must be adaptable, but he still doesn't want to mess with small orders.

Can you bring some of those up to the shop next time you come? I'd like to see them.

1952 [55-56] Imperial Parade Phaetons?

..........or even some plain ol' 1955 Imperials, not that there was anything plain about them.  While we are at it, how about some 1955 DeSotos?

I would have to put mine in boxcars, though.  I guess that I could park a few fifty foot boxcars on a spur and I could line up the cars on a raised platform and around it as if some workers had just unloaded them.

How about a '58 baby potty yellow Chrysler Imperial like the one I had? Gosh, that thing was big as a yacht! A 401 V-8 with two 4-barrels for power, brother, it had power! I could burn up a pair of BFG Silvertown 880's in ten minutes if I had wanted to. First car I owned. :o

Did someone change the engine in your 1958 Imperial?

I never knew that Chrysler had a 401.  I seem to remember that GM had one, in the early 1960s, Buick and/or Oldsmobile, maybe?

According to the Imperial Club website, the only engine available in the 1957 and 1958 Imperials was the 392, which was a hemi-head.  It usually had two carburettor; a car with that motor would pass anything except a gasolene pump.  The 1959 was available with either a 383 or a 413, the 1960 with a 413 only.  In 1955 it had a 331 (hemi-head); in 1956, a 354 (hemi-head).

The 1957-1959 were yet other examples of the Buck Rogers School of Automotive Design.

If you want 'em, let me know and I can get them and then ship them to you from the United State of Texas.

Aren't those 1:150 and larger? Seem to recall a recent discussion on the N scale vehicle list.
