Backdrops?

I am looking for backdrops for my layout and for the club too in a couple of scenes. Any one have experiance with anybody making them?

I tried Back Drop Warehouse and found there site too busy and hard to find info.

Forget that, I'm a big fan of the white foamcore backdrop. It looks like a sky when photographed.

I carefully applied it with a 9" roller while drinking beer and listening to the Beat Farmers.

Well I did the blue paint and clouds, but I have a couple of scenes where I was looking for depth.

Same at the club. We have a city scene and I would like to get a backdrop there to really get the feel of a large city.

I have some from Realistic Backgrounds, which is located in Pittsburgh. I don't have them installed yet, but they are reasonably priced and of good quality. I bought mine from Scenic Express

when i was building my 3rd HO layout as a teenager, i would listen to the Alan Parson's Project.  my brother had copied all the records to cassette and i would listen for hours while in the train room.  i think that scarred me for life, no doubt.  in the late 80's, i should have been listening to something more hip, like the Smiths... "GP 9 in a coma i know it's serious"

i guess it was as good a backdrop as any.  wait, this was about visual backdrops - light blue skies and false flats for dimension - the other stuff just looks like a picture IMO.

I know this thread is about backgrounds, so my apologies in advance to Bob....

The Beat Farmers? I haven't even thought about them in 10 years.  I used to go see a lot of live music, and I saw the Beat Farmers at Shank Hall (yes, the Shank Hall mentioned in Spinal Tap) in Milwaukee in 1995 two weeks before Country Dick Montana dropped dead on stage in Canada at the age of 40.  That was one of the most hard-drinking bands I've ever seen.  I can't believe those guys could get so hammered and still perform.  About an hour before the show, we saw two guys carrying a huge tub of St. Paulie Girl on ice back to the dressing rooms.  The band continued to drink on stage, and by the end of the show they could hardly stand.  They never missed a note, and it was a killer show.  My two buddies and I were sitting at a little round table about 10 feet from the stage, and Country Dick continuously made us the subject of his off color jokes.  I laughed so hard I almost pissed my pants.  At one point, Dick approached our table and said "You better move those f@#kin' beers if you don't want me to spill 'em".  He then proceed to sit, straddling our table, for the next two songs, then sat on my friend Tom's lap facing him!) for another one.  I know it sounds weird, but you'd have to know the Beat Farmers, and see the show.  If you know the song "Brown Acres", the performance was something to behold!  Lee, thanks for stirring up a very fond memory!

If you're looking for some depth, I'm really not a huge fan of the "Realistic Backgrounds" ones. They're far too glossy and far to detailed to really look  "right" to me. They all need to have the saturation turned down, and be sprayed with a matte finish. Then they MIGHT look good.

You know what I'd do? I'd look around the internet for stock photos of cityscapes and get them printed.

Also, I've NEVER been a fan of the blue sky & clouds backdrop. I feel like the blues are usually too blue, and the clouds too cloudy looking.

Oh, this thread is about backdrops. I've been looking at panoramic posters. I've just ordered a sky panorama for my Z scale layout. Not sure if there's anything else that's useful, but it might be worth a look:
