This laser is now 4 years old, and has paid for itself over 4 times!

I am a member of an informal Z Scale club, the BAZ BoyZ, and we now have 3 members with laser cutters, with a 4th on the way! I know, it seems out of control, but when people come over and mess with my laser, they go home wanting their own. So what if it costs as much as a car? Many people here on list have 3 cars with only 2 drivers at home. Sacrifice an extra car, and get your lazy a$$ a laser!  ;D

We are what is known as Tech Addicts! While most tweekers prefer meth, we tweek with high hech, and the laser is our crystal meth of choice! haha!

That loading dock would be so stupid simple to build with about $1.50 worth of styrene, I'm astonished anyone would pay real money for it.  And a kit for a dirt mound ramp?  Puh-leaaze.  Even in Z scale all you'd need is a wee bit of styrene or bass wood and a finger full of sculptamold.

Maybe people have other projects they would like to spend their time on. I've scratch built both, and intend to do so on the next layout. But we all have different definitions of fun. Frank

Some folks might have the skill to assemble a kit like this, but not enough skill to scratchbuild something even this simple (don't forget, in Z scale the parts are small, and this will be a limiting factor for people, too). Some folks might even prefer to buy it assembled.

I'd say that the surprise for me is that so many were sold in light of how many other manufacturers sell the same kit. Congratulations, Robert. I wish you continued success.

What would the actual dimensions of the ramp be for z scale...  I've got some stuff floating around and I want to build one on the cheap so I can show you guys how to save some money.  It'll be a new baby gift for Tom...

Hey I just remembered all I went through for my ramp. I had bought 3 Blair Line kits to splice together, then I stained the parts with ink/alcohol mixed with some graphite powder for a creosote look. I put it in the micro-wave to speed up the drying and the whole thing burst into flames. I had to go buy 3 more kits  :
