Not much new, sworn to secrecy, or what?

Okay, Kato got some of y'all excited with its SP and PRR passenger trains and accompanying locomotives, but it would seem that the other manufacturers must have sworn attendees to secrecy, as no one has talked about anything else, with the exception of the Bachmann heavy Mountain. Now, Matt G posted his own FVR announcement on here, so that doesn't count.

Am I correct in assuming that no other manufacturers showed anything new at all? No MTL heavyweight Pullman? How about InterMountain? DeLuxe Innovations? Model Power? Walthers? Athearn?

I hear Atlas played it "close to the vest" as usual, giving out a print catalog showing August and September new announcements at the meeting, but not posting them on the internet. Evidently those receiving the hard copy had to sign a pledge not to divulge the contents, or there was nothing worth discussing.

My wallet is sure happy about the announcements so far, as there is nothing I would buy.

IMRC mention of the N Cab Forward was further conformation of its being made .

News of new items at the NTS does seem scarce this year - maybe there just wasn't that much NEW OR  modelers are 'burnt out' on new item excitement !

Of course, a lot of the smaller manufacturers may not have made it to the NTS to show their new items.

Atlas' three month at a time announcements, that start with the 'Summer' catelog may become the norm. It allows modelers to budget & plan ahead and just may stop some of the 'get it now or else' thinking that may not be good for a steady business model. Modelers will burn out if all they do is 'buy before it's gone'. We need to have time to model, to re-charge our enjoyment batteries...... (oops, that's another thread)

You can't have it both ways . We want the scoop on planned projects ASAP , but by getting our wish , the train shows ( think of them as Christmas Trees replete with presents ) , are no surprise . I much rather get the news as soon as possible , as it is now for the most part .

BTW, just to show that I'll share - despite not being there - so this is second hand:

Atlas  5700 plastics hoppers, Fairmont Wagons
Bachmann:  A mountain
IMRC:  cab forward (we knew about the flatcars)
Athearn: F45/FP45 shells in evidence,  weathered boxcars???   
Wheels of Time:  NYC subway car - but it looks like a modern IRT car
FVM: 2 new FMC boxcars - yeah - best news of the day!!!
Kato: GS4, Daylight, GG1, Broadway (PRR stuff early next year though)
Deluxe: not there I believe
Red Caboose: not there I believe

What else??? Tell us!

When anyone get any info on what cars are going into the Broadway Limited - don't hesitate to post.  Inquiring minds want to know.

Bob - supposedly post-war Broadway, Dark Green (ha, ha, what green will that be???) , 5 stripes on the GG1, others to follow, availability spring-summer 2008.

I have seen DGLE on steamers and they looked black , or just with a hint of green . On the other hand I have seen DGLE diesels that have looked black or with a touch of green , or dark olive or even lighter . I think our PRR experts should show us what the want to see in a photo .

O.K. on the GG1's.  Am more interested on what type of cars and car names.  Have read that they are Budd and ACF cars (no Pullman?).

Probably the ones shown in the October 1994 issue of Model Railroader, drawn in full color by Robert McGonigal. Suspect that's what Kato used to design the set. BTW, it was the Broadway as re-equipped in 1949. The 1938 FOM train was used prior to that, although the FOM paint job may have been gone by 1949.

I have confirmation that it is indeed a post-war version of the Broadway and will be heavy in Budd and ACF cars.

Excellent news... can't wait to get the fine details!

Micro-Trains has been using selected (other) internet venues to disclose its new products.  Heavyweights, new roadnames and locomotives in Z Scale, and the next few HOn3 body styles (after the flat car this month) have all been discussed.
