This week, it's Philadelphia's other interurban, the third rail, standard gauge, Philadelphia & Western that ran between Upper Darby and Norristown:

Here is one of the original arch-windowed wooden cars, converted to a work car with a side door added:

A freight motor equipped with trolley poles for joint use with Lehigh Valley Transit, which the P&W connected with at Norristown until 1950:

P&W "Bullet" car No. 207 leaves the Norristown station, located on the second floor of the building, for Upper Darby:

More next week.

A few more from the trusty Kodak 127 Brownie....

First up, the Golden Arrow at Dover Marine in August 1967. The locomotive is 750v DC third rail eletric and the livery was green. Note the English and French flags above the nameboard. This was the first railway photo I ever took.

In March 1968 I went on a school journey to Yugoslavia (or Yu-no-go slavia as it was then known as far as railway photography was concerned) - these next two were snapped out of the train window at Sezana.

A 0-10-0 shunting, probably an Austrian built version of the Prussian G10 design.

A JZ class 17 2-6-2T (Hungarian Class 342 design) at Sezana on a train to Nova Goricia on the Italian border.

there was a mention in the latest TRP, which prompted my minor online quest.

In June 1954 I took the PRR's Manhatten Limited from Harrisburg to Chicago, courtesy of the U.S. Navy, on my way to bootcamp in Great Lakes, IL.  Pullman roomette all the way.  Quite comfortable ride and got into Chicago early.  In 1968 shortly after PC came about I took this same train on my way to San Diego, Ca for duty (this time the navy only paid for coach).  Although it was all still painted in PRR the track conditions even by mid 1968 were terrible, the equipment was falling apart and dirty, the crews somewhat rude. and arrived 3 hours late into Chicago and missed by AT&SF connections to LA.  How things change in just a few short years.
P.S. Did take the UP City of Everywhere to LA and it was a great train.

It looked vaguely familiar but I couldn't figure out exactly what class it was so I looked up E5001 & found it: "British Rail Class 71"

From the "STS" on the end car in the last photo, plus the background, that's evidently Singapore, so possibly they are all Singapore. IIRC the rail line to Singapore connects with those of Malaysia and on through to Thailand. The Singapore Transit System seems to be standard gauge and the other equipment 42" gauge.

Not Singapore - I believe the STS stands for Sky Train System
