...nothing but "wow great work, keep it up" even when you know you just put together a scale replica of a pile of s**t.

If it really were a scale replica, you would deserve praise--after all, manure is so seldom modeled at all, let alone well.  ;D

Welcome!

Aaaahhh, one of them wind-um-up Pave Low's. Cute!  8)  Well at least the AF picked a decent chopper to steal from the Navy.  ;D Four years on Herky Birds for me before going to work on more Herkys @ Southern Air. BTW, if you need some extra s**t, we are full of it here and will be happy to exude some your way.

Hey, glad to see your post.  Besides the shops you mentioned in Pensacola, have you visited the gift/hobby shop at the L&N Museum in Milton?  That's also a good N Scale shop, and they'll get you anything that can be ordered.

I was sure there had to be N Scalers around the panhandle who were not in our circle.   The South Okaloosa N Scalers are down to two active members and a couple of occasional participants, due mostly to military assignments changing.  We had six when we started, and we are looking to expand again.  We are looking for NTrak enthusiasts who like to build realistic modules without a lot of gimmicks (animations, burning buildings, carnivals with sound, etc.)  We also like to run at realistic speeds.  Can't see building realistic models and running them at 200 smph.  We like our NTrak to be as realistic as a home layout as we can achieve within the NTrak triple-track standards.

Anyway, contact me if you are interested.

I forgot to mention the L & N RR Museum and shop are open only on Fridays and Saturdays, something like 10 - 3 both days.

I posted an addition to include that info, but I don't see it.  My first post showed up in seconds, but the add-on isn't there after over an hour, so this is a second try.

Haven't been to the Milton Museum.  I was ready to visit on a couple occasions, but they didn't have what I was looking for.
As for the NTrak modules - I'll be separating from the Air Force and moving back to SLC, Utah early next year and I just started a new 2x4 layout.  Even if I felt I had the time... I don't think my better half would agree.
If you want to send me some info about your meetings / get-togethers, I'll see if I can find a way to work it into my strange and unpredictable schedule.

Thanks for the info.

Wait a minute here.

Only one 25 year old allowed... you have to chose either 24 or 26.  ;D

Welcome man.

I'll be 25 in three months.

You can get our calendar and a bit of info about our layout at http://sontrak.spaces.live.com/ .  I try to keep it current as to what our future events are.  Please drop by and see us at any of these shows, even if you aren't interested in joining.  We'd like to meet you.

Small world, Bill. Does this layout look familiar?

I'm usually right across the aisle from you with my 2x4 layout at the Dothan show.

I note on your website that Pensacola is to have a show in three weeks. Is it still on? Recall driving over there last year to find the show cancelled.   :-[

Hey, 3rd Rail!  I can't see your bus in this picture.

Pensacola's show is still on this year.  They just invited us to bring our layout, but Tom has another commitment that week.  We'd like to show, and hate missing the opportunity.  They canceled their show last year because they couldn't get enough vendors.

Bill, you mean the bus in this photo?

Have you got an URL or an email address I could contact to make sure the show is on before I run over there?  ;)

I wish I would have known this was your layout sooner.  We were debating about the size, layout, and owner for quite some time on some other boards.  I even worked up my own 30"x48" version before deciding it had to be a 30"x60" if you use 'standard' 9.75" minimum radius.  So what's the actual size?
Do you have any online albums or a website so I can settle it, once and for all?

And Bill, bookmarked the site.  Looking forward to the P-cola show.  Hoping I don't have to work. (I work weekends normally)

My portable layout is exactly 24" by 48" and some of the curves are as tight as 7" radius.

The bus photo and a bunch of others were in the March-April 2005 issue of N-Scale magazine. I have over 600 photos of prototype and model trains at http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/3148
