Howdy!

Figured I'd introduce myself before I popped up out of nowhere.

My name is Robert, I'm 25, and currently in the USAF.
I got my start in model railroading with HO after finding a long-forgotten 4x8 layout in my grandpa's newly-reopened cellar, back in the late 80's - early 90's.  I built my own 4x8 in my father's basement, but after a few years and a move; we ran out of room.  To this day, it stands on one edge in his garage with a few large boxes of locos and rolling stock on shelves above it.
As you may have guessed; I work in N scale now.  I managed to put one layout together since working with N scale, but it was wiped out by a hurricane.  Since then, I've stuck simply to scratchbuilding, kit-bashing, and attempting near-impossible projects.  I usually fail to meet my goals, but hey! it's a learning experience.

Moving on-
I was impressed by the mature atmosphere here, and the quality of modelling.  I hope to learn alot and possibly even help others with some tips and tricks.

Some of you may know me as Moped of the UP from other places. ;)

I see he's not too far from me, either at Hurlburt or Eglin AFB, since his ISP shows located at Gulf Breeze, just East of Pensacola. I'm about 15 miles East of Tyndall AFB. Nice to know someone else from the Florida Panhandle (aka the back of beyond) is on here.  :P

Hey, Robert.  Good to see you.  I was just reading your post over on the SRO.

I think you'll like it here, too.

Thanks guys.
I'm looking forward to some smart-assery.  It gets pretty boring to read highly moderated posts, and get nothing but "wow great work, keep it up" even when you know you just put together a scale replica of a pile of s**t.

2A5x2 would be my AFSC. I'm a helicopter crew chief.  MH-53J's and MH-53M's are the medium I work in.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MH-53

I'm actually in Navarre.  My ISP is in Gulf Breeze.  Not the best place for N scale trains, but the occassional trip to P-cola provides easy access to 2 good hobby shops and 1 train shop with a decent N scale line up.

I guess I'll have to go with 24.  I can rent a car with my military ID.  ;D
