MT and another engine besides FT?

I was wondering if MT every will do another N-scale engine after the ill-timed FT. IM has released F3/F7 model since then (besides the tunnel motors) while MT only  painted their FT in different fantasy colors.

I remember back in Switzerland when HAG (a very expensive and exclusive HO company) made their entry in the N-scale market and brought out the same model at the same time as Lameco, which is known for their high quality brass models. Almost 20 years after that fiasco, HAG still has not put out another model.

I was hopeful at first, but I stopped wondering a few years ago ...

I really doubt it.  Their own train sets have included other engines lately.  The good news for all those MT collectors out there is that as a one-shot deal and a flop, yet still a reasonably good model, the MTFT will probably grow in value...

They seem to be cornering the loco market in Z-scale these days.

I don't see MT releasing another N scale locomotive.  They are expensive to design and produce so trying to keep as much of the production in the US, as far as the shell goes, would be more of a headache than it's worth.  MT already seems only able to produce a limited amount of product.  My gut feeling is with IMRC and MT going head to head by releasing FTs at nearly the same time is IMRC won that battle and now MT doesn't want to test the waters again.

Sure - MT will release a GP9 and SD40-2 this year.
