Are the couplers on the prototype really grey? Would it be possible for you to scan the photo you have?

I have another shot of a UP one ( 2 numbers later than this one ) taken in 1959 that is silver . My guess is the UP repainted these to silver about that time (the late fifty's ) . which coincides with other MOW equipment , and diesel trucks , being repainted to silver .I sent you a PM , and then another PM on what book and who has it listed . Copy right laws makes me ascared to dare publish something from a book that is still available for purchase .
One thing I would like to see, a unit train of scale test cars.
That's fascinating. I wonder why they went to the trouble of painting the couplers.
