I've done a little more alteration to the shell.
I've added a brass air tank but I think it needs to be a smaller diameter still.
I've widened the SD60 pilot and need to add styrene to the steps.
I've added a IM SD40T-2 rear pilot (Thanks Steve Mate!!!)
The fuel tank is from an IM SD40T-2 about to get modified to look better.
A lot more work to do before this gets any paint on it
;D ;D

I didn't like the air tank so I've had about 4 goes at changing it. I was in the supermarket minding my own business when I spied the toothpicks! So now the air tank looks about right - yep toothpicks
Now to raid BLMA detail bits ;D ;D

yep toothpicks
wooden toothpicks ? for an air tank ? but you do know that wood isn't air tight ? that wont work mate... ;D ;D
...but it is actually a good idea - and it looks good painted

The shell appears to be straight. I can see what you mean in the photo. It's not balancing correctly on the mechanism so the front is slightly pointing up and the back is a shade down. I just ran a straight edge against it and it seems straight. I also ran it across the top front to back. It may just be the skirt on it - I'll rework it so it looks better.
Thanks for spotting it.
cheers

Actually I think it's a fisheye effect from the camera lens.
Great work though, it's coming along nicely.

I'll check it out anyway and post another pickie once I've figured it out. I'm moving my internet pc over to linux in a few days, so that's going to keep me occupied for oh 10 seconds ;D
Nice to see you posting again Simon
Hmmm I seem to remember something about a SDL39 being finished before my SDF40-2!

SDL39, well it got to the point where I needed to add decals, then I stripped it and started over on it. The EWS/WC maroon I tried looked really wrong in natural light so I decided to rebuild it as MILW, but I've been doing other non train things lately.

Added BLMA small plow and modified it to look more ATSF like. Need to trim some plastic off the pilot and add some styrene / brass sheet to the plow as per prototype. Added some Kato MU hoses (used them to hold the plow in place whiile gluing) Got some Sinclair Antennas coming (Craig are ya listening! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D) Hmmmm.... must contact Grant ;D
here you go - geez this is taking a while to get done

I think I've finished altering the BLMA small plow to ATSF specific type that was fitted to the SDF40-2. It's close anyway. Still lots to do.
