Can a whole train crew ride the locomotive? On the BEDT they could. BTW, there was no fireman on these steam locomotives.:

And, here's Gainesville Midland Decapod No. 209 parked in front of the Gainesville, GA, depot a year after the line was Dieselized. October 1960:

Next week, Korean National Railways steam in the early 1960's.

I was going to ask if you recorded it, but then I noticed it has been re-engined.   :(  Still looks cool.   :)

Some roster shots this week.

I'm not sure if CR reclassified this rebuild as a GP10 or not.  I did not see many of these in NE Ohio.

A SD35 working Stanley Yard south of Toledo in May 84.

Either a U23C or a U30C at Stanley.  The spotting feature is the number of full height doors IIRC but I don't recall which doors nor how many.  Used to know that kind of stuff cold.

Wes, that is a 4-6-4+4-6-4. Was that a passenger Garratt? Looks like it is other than SAR, too. Have any more information?

Ex Rhodesian Railway 15th class at Gwelo in mid-1976. More a mixed traffic design, although their duties included a number of long distance passenger trains. The streamlined design of the front tank is more for show than anything else. The driving wheel diameter is 4' 9" which is not bad for 3' 6" gauge, and is at the top of the range for most of the Garratts worldwide.

There is still a very small handful puffing way in Zimbabwe today.
