James,

You're right.  Maybe the 'watch gear trick' can be used to scribe in the rivets.  That looks like a good detail to have.

Yeah, it'd be a good detail to add. It's way down on my projects list - I'd love to see what you could do to it Tom. I'd love to know whether these made it into the 90's....

The SP and the SOO cars for me.  The SP car is close to a prototype photo I found.  Just some sill modification is necessary*.

*now, I will be called a basher forever on the atlas forum because I pointed this out.

Now I see it !

You'll need about 30 or so for a rail train...

I'd like to see that modeled in N scale!  :P

Give me time... I'll probably end up using the Atlas flat for cost reasons...

What ya gonna use for rail?

Door

is going to need a little attention too.  That may be a common door, but I don't recall many like that on SP cars.   Still this model appears to be a fine starting point...

Most likely Atlas C55... I need to play around with annealing it though.

A fellow FOBNR member built a rail train in n-scale and he laminated styrene strips together in a "T" and sanded to get more of a rail-like profile.  He said that's the only way you could build it and make any kind of curve at all. (plus I think there was a weight issue as well.)  Painted and weathered it looked good and the train was fully functional.

There was an article with pictures of the train in the February 2002 Railmodel Journal.

just realized there was no Scale test car release this month ... gotta revise my estimate as to when they'll release N&W .... 342 years from now.

That SP HyCube is very rare.  Apparently, there was a problem with the printing and most dealers didn't get their order fulfilled.

That's pretty optimistic. Do you have an inside scoop?
