Hi, Keystonecrossings (Jerry Britton),

No, I haven't tried my close-coupled E6s going thru the S curve of #7 crossovers.  I share the same concern as you - this solution may work on my little layout, but it doesn't meet my standards for a long term solution either.

Thx, all, the for additional thoughts.  I will look for some of these long-shank Rapidos and see what I can come up with.

Over on the Atlas Forum, Ron N. (railspike55) was kind enough to post the following photo of the above long-shank Rapido->T-shank suggestion, exactly what was suggested above.

Before on the left, after on the right:

I will continue to tinker as time allows, and I'll post back in the future and let you know what I find.    Thx for the suggestions, all.   :-) .

Big week for me:

There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

What's all this shoveling stuff? With the sunshine and 80 degrees the last several days I guess ours melted? Oh' wait, we only get a real snow every 100 years, so it will be 98 more years before I have to get out the shovel.
I did get to spend time on the RR in lieu of snow removal. A real challenge. I installed a Digitax decoder in a recently, finally, painted Kato SD40-2 Snoot. I had a decoder in it when it was undec but needed that on for a new Kato SD70. I got another decoder and it would not program. Not in the snoot or a couple of others that were compatible. Bad decoder, DOA. So this morning I took the old snoot decoder out of the SD70 and re-installed it in the snoot. Programed fine. Took the offending new decoder that would not program in anything last night and stuck it in the SD70 and it programmed fine.
I love this hobby!!!!

THAT"S GREAT DAN,

Many Congratulations....
Live Well, Love Much, Laugh Often,

Very Best Wishes,
Steven

Clouds rumble, earth will shift
Walls tumble, hearts will skip
Things changing
Everywhere but here

Small window, tiny room
Sun hits in the afternoon
For one minute fills this space
Beautiful, illuminated

Chorus:
When I am released
And the gates fly open before me
When I am released
Will you still be waiting for me?

Verse:
Some look and all they find
Are problems and alibis
But my cup is one sixteenth full
I'm getting there, but the getting's slow

Chorus:
When I am released
And the gates fly open before me
When I am released
Will you still be waiting for me?

Bridge:
When I walk outside I will see the sky
I will leave all this behind
When I walk outside
Sun to warm my skin, friends to take me in
When I walk outside

Chorus:
When I am released
And the gates fly open before me
When I am released
Will you still be waiting for me?

Congratulations, Daniel. I propose a toast for you and your bride I learned in México: Salud, pesetas, y tiempo para gastarlas, porque ya la vida esta tan corta. or "Good health, a little money, and the time to spend them, for life is already too short."

Hey, that's how you learn "Dude"!  So I will argue that it wasn't 74 bucks down the drain....maybe only 62! ::)  Keep getting dirty!

The loco was a Life-like atsf GP38-2. Awsome model. mind you that all the atsf blue came off and some of the yellow. So I have a
white loco with yellow lettering. waaaaaa.

First, inquire of Walthers, who make Life-Like, if replacement shells are available and what they cost. If you can buy one, be sure it  will be a lot less that even $62.

Or, you can take the bull by the horns and learn to model... Take the shell apart to remove the glazing and headlights and paint and decal it! It's worth a try. It might not be perfect the first ime, but we all started somewhere. The guys on here that turn out beautiful models learned by doing - their first was not a masterpiece, I'm sure.  ;)

You can buy a shell but only for undec. After further inspection I found that the paint did not come off but is coated with some white residue
that has completely adhered to the paint. I even tryed scraping it with hobby knife but it would not come off. And yeah I guess I could pull a
a paintshop crazyness, but I don't have an airbrush(buying one would cost almost as much as a new loco) and my favorite part is buying a
good model and detailing it. nice suggestion but naaah. ;D

Go to Walmart and have someone 18 years old buy you a can of black spray paint.

Get a set of Penn Central decals.

The more it looks like crap, the more prototypical it is!  Just make sure you spray of coat of primer on it first.
