The H0 Weathering Challenge is back too !
Wellcome to the February 2007 H0 Weathering Challenge. There are some new but simple rules for the new challenge.
The Rules:
1. The entry must be of the same car type as the prototype picture, and must attempt to match the protoype, including any graffiti or paint modifications. Additional details may be added, however, they shall not count for the voting.
2. The entry must be a
H0 scale model
. The intent with this rule is to have everyone on the same canvas.
3. The entry must be submitted by
MIDNIGHT, US EASTERN STANDARD TIME, 1 April 2007 !
Voting will commence on 2 April, and continue for 10 days.
(yes right, two months time now !)
4. Picture size: max. 800 x 600 ! (bigger pictures turn out to be blurry because the forum software sizes them down !)
5. In progress photos are encouraged.
And this is this months car, it's a
Pullman Standard 5277 Cubic Foot Exterior Post Box Car with Pullman Doors and the original RailBox scheme
. The model is made by
Intermountain Railway Company
, sold out at most places and every now and then on eBay, but you should be able to find one if you really want to.
The first H0 car for 2007 is:
(klick on the picture for a higher resolution one)
special thanks to Jeff for his help to find a nice prototype and the right model !
Stay cool and weather the heck out of it.....
and as a side note, please do not complain about the complainers !

Jeff-I've been anxiously awaiting this-DAMN-you definitely picked
a proto that shows no mercy! (even the plate designation is
"ghosted") well, time to get started! (ok, I'll come clean-Jeff,
I already -have- one of these IMs-didn't mean to hold out on ya
when you were searching, but I was planning on starting another
1 of these-which has been pushed back seeing this one.-I owe
you one in some way now IMO-hmm-I have an idea, & it involves
an IM car-stay tuned!)

Jeff!
Now THAT'S a Railbox! You can expect my entry on 3/31 at 11:59 PM SHARP! Hehe. I WILL be entering this challenge, however. I've got an IMRC Railbox on my watch list on eBay.

Is there pictures of this car anywhere else or they from a private collection?
Thanks,

Nevermind, I missed the little caption under the photo, for a larger resolution photo.

if i could find one of these cars, i may be in... i've got the one from the mtw challenge, but it has a different door and i was planning on actually doing that car :-\ .... looking at this car, it may be an idea to start from the ground up anyway...
anyone ever strip lettering off an intermountain car before? i can get the car, but it's the wrong scheme...
so much for a kinder, gentler railwaire weathering challenge ;D

Jeremy
-I've already started stripping mine (of lettering at
least) & it is
not
a picnic. The Athearn cars black lettering
is usually easy to wipe out with Microsol, the arrows are the bear.
With this car, it's the opposite. I've dumped the Microsol for
Solvaset & making v-e-r-y slow progress-patience is the key-&
IMO the best way to do this is above. I have 2 of these IM's,
but the other is reserved for another project in the works.
(Actually, this one was already planned for a really neat PS,
but the Klukester threw a wrench into my plans (& in a good way
though) As to the
other
challenge car-
continue
with
it-I need some competition!
Kluke
-who knows-maybe Dawn & I will honeymoon at
Deep Creek Lake, visit my bud in Accident, & head for
Cumberland for pics. (no, no date has been set yet) but she
would
consider railfanning a staple of a honeymoon)
did I pick a good one or what?
Nope-no backing out on my part-like I said above, already
started somewhat-you're kind of on the same page as to
what I had initially planned for this car.

Yep I don't understand the ''PURGE'' I had a few posts here, but anyway thanks for the comp on the LV-CR car.
I'll be checking in to see the challenge progress.
