I think the problem is that each of these systems leaves behind
"artifacts" - lines, etc... and the smaller you go, the more they overwhelm
the model.
The MMM vehicles in "N" are not as bad, but do require finishing to get the
level of looking like a casting. Since castings don't exist for many of their
parts, it's worth the effort to me.
I have suggested to them that they do more unique things like MOW machines,
which usually have lots of complex straight lines and fewer curves, which clearly
seems to the the place where the rendering leaves behind the most junk.
BTW, has anyone looked into the legality of taking open, public domain
3D models from TrainSim and other places and rendering them in 3D?? Perhaps
the licensing of these is restricted in this way?
