Ed thought I should add more weathering to the walk ways, and he's right.

On further (on the clock) consideration, I also think you may want to soot up around the exhaust a bit.

Maybe also darken the radiator grills some too to give them depth. The Kato chickenwire grills just don't have as much innate depth as their Atlas counterparts, but with some black paint tend to look just fine.

I'd also add those detail parts I talked about elsewhere. It just looks naked without the cab signal box N502 from Sunrise (if you can find it, and when you do, tell me where).

It also needs a plow. I did one with and one without, but by and large they all had them at one point or another, and it just makes it look more dressed up.

Did you do this one from one of the new Kato runs or the older ones?

I really like the way the blue has weathered up. It's got a great patina too.

I'm not really in love with these photos, but they show the grill job well:

For the walkways I'd try to find some overhead photo's like from a bridge and see how the real thing looks.

Edit:

Ed may be right ::) :

I'd 86 the stock Kato MU hoses.  Too glued together looking.  Plows would be a nice touch, too.

Careful there, not all the walkways were painted black. Most of them just LOOKED that way. I've painted them black on all of my models, not necessarily because it's 100% accurate, but I think it just makes for a better looking model.

I've sent Tom to this photo already, he's just ignoring me  ;D

Did you get the radius of that blower duct? (in the photo)

I didn't even know some walkways were black I just though it was dirt. I'll stick to my pre-1960's crap ;)

Oh yeah, the white doesn't go far enough up the handrails either, but you knew that already.

I think you should send it to me for a few months so I can give it an in-depth inspection on my Conrail layout...
