I don't usualy have much to add to any forums I read because most of the time the experts are right on it, and doing much better at modeling than I do.
But in this case I have found something to share.
I have been looking to make, buy, mold, diamond stacks for my shays sence Atlas released them.
I failed at all except this one.
I was looking at fittings for a break job with my oldest son and ran accross these.
1/8 brass tube ..................... LHS .65
1/8 brass ferrules..... hardware/auto .20ea
3/16 brass ferrules... hardware/auto .20ea
1/4 brass ferrules......hardware/auto .22ea
These are brass compression fittings for plumbing
Fitting them inside each other gave me the shape
I was after.
Used acc to glue them togather...
Compairing these to known smoke stacks....
Left side is one from Atlas mogul Right side is form B-mann Jupider
The fittings have enough metal that they can be filed or sanded to change the angle and
shape quit a bit.
The ones I made are what stock ones look like and sanded to blend the lines where they meet.
I do plan on using these on my Mico Ace 0-6-6-0 logger mallay as well.
Having fun now
