cr6841!Wow, EXCELLENT tips! I'll consider everything including the "thick CA"glue. Mine seems thin. My goal is to save some of the original paint jobso I won't be priming the whole thing. This could get a bit tricky. Weathering will hide a lot because it's a fairly messy prototype. Again,I appreciate the timely response because I can actually incorporate someof these steps into the project. I'm just getting started.Jeff (MrKLUKE)
Do you think each model manufacturer actually tried to duplicate a specific covered hopper OR do you think some versions are accurate while some versions are half-accurate and still others are just bogus?
Hummerdave is being helpful behind the scenes trying to get me to trysome "upgraded" parts to make this a real model. I'm not sure how farI'll go with THIS project but I do want to learn how to add metalroofwalks, brakelines, correct steps, etc. We'll see what happens. Anyway, thanks Dave for your input! Keep it coming. I got out that trusty 20 year old saw that was pictured in the very firstpost. I never used it until now. It came with the house! Hehe. I cut outone of the four bay bottoms...easy enough. I screwed the steel weightto a piece of scrap wood and cut it with a miter box saw. I wasn't sureif cutting steel was smart and I wasn't about to get my fingers thatclose to the blade. Sparks flew and it cut right through. I realize itprobably isn't that great for the blade. Anyway, because of the car'snew length, the weight had to be shortened. Measurement-wise, thebay spacing to the trucks is still about right so I left them alone. I'll justcenter the third bay and be done with that part of the project. At thispoint, I'm done with measurements!Jeff (MrKLUKE)
