OOS at Walthers  :-[

I know I've been trying to order some for myself for awhile, for some cabeese I'm working on which dovetails into this month's challenge pretty well.

Next question if I may?, How do I post my Photo`s of my Entry Model, What address or Page?,
I have no idea.

regards,

In order to post them here, you need to have them posted somewhere on the web already, like your own website or a special image-posting site like RailImages. Once you've done that, you add it to this thread at the end of the month by placing the images URL between the "img" and "/img" tags, which are under the "I" or italic button above.

Do you use Windows? If so, right click on your photo on the web, select "properties". Highlight the URL on the 2nd page, right click and select "copy". Then place the cursor between the "img" tags on your RailWire post and right click, then "paste".

O.K. with this?

Well no one answered weather or not I had to actually build the model this month or not. I built this right before Christmas. Since it's finished I'll go early. Disregard if it doesn't count.

There weren't many prototype shots for me to go off of, most were in the corner of a photo. Here is one online:
http://digilib.syr.edu/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=%2Ferie_railroad&CISOPTR=1765&DMSCALE=75.09387&DMWIDTH=600&DMHEIGHT=600&DMMODE=viewer&DMFULL=0&DMOLDSCALE=25.03129&DMX=0&DMY=0&DMTEXT=caboose&DMTHUMB=1&REC=6&DMROTATE=0&x=23&y=109

I started with a Bachmann bobber caboose. So I cut off the sides and replaced them with scribed styrene, then cut new window holes and added windows cut from a MDC caboose shell. The cupola also had bits removed and replaced with scribed styrene. I covered the roof with paper and ACC to look like tarpaper. Used a smoke stack from Micro Trains. The cupola mounted marker lights are just scraps of styrene with Grandt Line Nut/bolt/washer castings as vents and a dot of paint for the lamps. Flags are aluminum foil wrapped around .010" wire. The corner steps were removed and replaced with etched brass steps from Sylvan
http://www.nscalesupply.com/SYL/SYL.html
(bottom of the page)
The couplers are 903 Z scale and the wheels were replaced with metal Kato wheelsets, they were the best rolling and fit into the Bachmann sideframes. Decals are from a Northeast Decals boxcar set.

Before and after:

Just after:

After paint:

Grand finally money shot  :P :

Thanks for the effort "3rdrail", but for the life of me I cannot see an "Italic Button" for
love nor money, nor the "img-/img" units. I must be getting old, I`ll try a couple of test
uploads if thats  permissable in this Thread??. I can`t have these blokes beat me without
having fired a shot at least.;-}

regards.

When you are typing up a post you'll see a row of 'smilies' & 2 rows of 'buttons' above the text box that you're typing in - the "Italic Button" is the second one in from the left on the top row, & the image button is immediately below it.

Italicized -
Insert Image -

Include the text that you want in italics within the i-/i brackets, & the link to your photo (which needs to be 'on the Internet') within the img-/img brackets.

Hope that helps

 8) Chris nice I like the brass steps, all that fine detail really makes your model
stand out.

Man, I hope I can finish in time!  I just found out that a lot of the cabooses I am basing my model from did not have the 'Tarwheel' logo later on in life.  This means no white on the decals!

I hope this helps with the photo posting problem. Fotki is the site that hosts my photos. Your photo's properties will be different, like http://www.photobucket/mytrainpictures/ etc. Just copy your on-line images properties and paste them into your message. Then put the brackets as shown before and after those properties. This should help, I hope.

Centauri, you have done everything correctly. However, some picture hosting services do not permit direct remote linking, preferring to expose viewers to site advertising, which is after all where they make their money.

I am not familiar with www.upnaway.com so do not know if that is the problem. There are several sites that do permit direct linking. I use www.railimages.com which is funded by voluntary contributions.

For now, you might just post the URL's and let us look at the photos that way.

Hello 3rd rail,
Thank you for your advice, I`ve just tried a 2nd shot using Railfan.net, but
too no avail.
I think I`ll take your advice, But, could you tell me how to Delete my other
two Posting Failures so I dont clutter up the Thread??.
Regards,

I have deleted the two posts for you - 3rdrail
