Broadway Limited PRR T1 Erratic

My BLI PRR T1 (most likely first run) performs erratically.  At last weekend's show, a train club member had his and tried to run it.  Not smooth at all, actually didn't proceed very far before it would stop and need manual persuasion.  I just sent off my M1a as an RMA back to BLI for a re-fit and upgrade so it would run at all.  Before I write another tech support check to BLI, has anyone managed to get their PRR T1 duplex locomotive to run at least 1 lap without help?.

I have 2 from the first run. One runs really great. The second ran good when it was new and then sat for a couple years.  Next time I had it out it shorted the layout the second that it touched the tracks.  It will have to go back to bli.

I had the same or similar issue and sent it into BLI. They said it was a dislodged traction tire. I'm not 100% sure it was that as it seemed gear related to me. Mine was/is an older Paragon 3 T1 and not the newer Paragon 4.

The First run if T1s had a notoriously poor electric pickup in the tender.  The axle wipers were not adjusted properly so the contact with the axles was intermittent. And only half the wheels pick up power from one side and the other half from the other side. I adjusted them on my own, but many owners sent them in to BLI for warranty repair.

I had a Paragon 3 T1 for a while. Very fussy, stop-start-stop on track where other locos never stutter. If I try again I'll look for a Paragon 4. My Paragon 4 Pacific is a good runner on the same layout.

I have one from the first run, and it ran erratically. Torqued my lugnuts when there was a cost associated with getting it repaired, a cost to ship and then have to wait for the turn-around. I decided to dive in and tear it down, it ended up being a wire lead at the front of the chassis (headlight or number boards) crushed between the boiler and frame where the front attachment screw resides. Once liquid taped, rerouted and reassembled it has worked pretty well.
