Evanston Wyoming Free-moN Meet (E24)

Any other Free-moN module owners planning to attend this July?

This is the second Evanston, WY meet following the inaugural event in 2021 (E21) and it will be bigger than before...I believe we are 3x the participants.

Here's a draft of the layout in the ~15,000 sqft space

I wish I had the time to go but I'll be up to my eyes finishing my capstone projects for school and traveling to Oregon for my uncle in-laws celebration of life gathering. This is right before the Hostlers Evanston Roundhouse Festival the weekend of Aug 2-4 which I will be in attendance at.
I'm hoping this will be a annual thing as I'm just a little over an hour away from Evanston. I may just have to build a FreemoN module for next year.
Also, if anyone is close and thinking of going, do it. The whole site is pretty cool to wonder around, there's a good amount of UP traffic on the mainline, and they are restoring a steam loco in the roundhouse to running condition. Plus the lighting in the machine shop really makes modules pop with real sunlight through the upper windows.

Problem with these events is they let anyone attend.  That guy in the bottom center of the screen shot has to be watched 24/7  :D

I'd love to go, and I'm with @Jbub - the Evanston facility is great. The city(?) has done a wonderful job with it and made it an interesting space. Attended a train show there seven years ago and it was a great experience.

Sadly, I cannot be there due to family commitments. Maybe E27?

Yes, the city of Evanston has done a great job with this roundhouse, machine shop and surrounding grounds, and the small community there supports the efforts. I can only hope Ogden City puts in the same effort or more with Ogden Union Station now that they own the grounds and buildings. They have some interesting plans some of which seem to be good.

It's an "every-three-year" thing since it's a lot of effort to plan and get people there from all over the country. We're driving over 800 miles and most groups are that far or more away.

I agree, it's a great location and the city has done a fine job with the buildings. Hope it works out with your schedule next time.

Well, that gives me plenty of time to make a FreeMoN module or two.

It looks like there are a few members attending E24 and I'm curious on what I'm going to miss this coming weekend, so please post anything cool. As much as I would love to attend, I'll be in Oregon for the celebration of life of my wife's uncle. If any  :ashat: is sticking around for the Evanston Roundhouse Festival the following weekend from August 2nd through the 4th, I'll be there for most of it with my club.

I’ve been packing a 20ft trailer for the last couple days and will head east from Sacramento with three other Free-moN scalers. I’ll try to post some photos from Evanston. Should be fun!

A friend ( @gkoproske ) left yesterday and is making a week out of railfan tourism en route, sending the occasional text to report or ask a question since I'm familiar with the area. (Nebraska's DOT, "NDOR", was a client for several years). His departure day messed with his plan to visit the UP museum in Council Bluffs. I had to remind him that practically all major museums are closed on Mondays, but he reported they're worse, closed M-W.

I know some people from the local Free-moN group in DFW (Lone Star Free-moN) are headed up there.  But I'm not one of them.  lol
