I can read the cv’s and the light flickers when I enter values.
Maybe a factory restore to the decoder functions?

Thank you for your help.
I reset the decoder to factory settings and then I soldiered the power strips to the decoder and that did the trick.
Again drop in my butt.

It isn't a drop-in install for sure, but at least you don't have to deal with bunch of individual wires to connect power pickups, motor, headlights (and sometimes add resistors). In the wired-in installs you also have to modify the light board, etc.  Sometimes you also have to modify the frame to accept a wired-in decoder.  So while it's not a true drop-in, overall it is not so bad.

Just a note to the lack of a motor pulse. A lot of decoders do not use a motor pulse acknowledgement any longer. So you do not see that motor jerk anymore.

Thanks. That is a new one on me.  What then are they using for a load to generate a current pulse for acknowledgement? Back in the day incandescent light bulbs could consume enough current to produce enough current draw, but today's LEDs use very little current.

Which decoders have you observed not using motor as a load for the acknowledgement current pulse?

Do not recall where I read that? I do not think that ESU uses it any longer but do not recall others that I noticed did not give you a motor jerk?

When ESU decoder's CVs are read on the LokProgrammer there is no need for current pulse acknowledgment because the CVs are read using different method.  I guess I'll have to try service mode programming using my NCE Power Cab (which is currently out of commission waiting for a new display).
