Overall this decoder installation was pretty straightforward. The trickiest part was getting the shell off without doing any serious damage (I did a little, but it was repairable). That definitely is not a task for the heavy-handed or faint-hearted.
The decoder itself just drops right in. You have to be careful to get it to align right onto the motor contact tabs, and of course check to make sure there are no shorts to the frame.
I am using the Digitrax UP6Z on my NCE command station to avoid applying too much voltage to the rails.
