Charging stations where the batteries can be recharged are essential for the operation of accumulator railcars. All of the accumulator railcars’ home stations had at least one charging station, and there were also some en route stations with charging stations so that intermediate charging could be carried out during breaks in operation.
When charging the batteries, the lids of the battery containers had to be opened so that the resulting gases could escape. However, no rainwater was allowed to get into the containers. That’s why the loading points were usually arranged in sheds, which were also used for minor maintenance of the railcars. Where this was not possible to the extent necessary, protective roofs were erected for the open battery fronts.
Wherever possible, so-called charging posts were placed on the platform tracks so that the battery could also be charged on the platform during turnaround times, provided the tracks were not needed for operational processing.
The model is delivered unpainted.
