Perhaps we should organize a Railwire meet em up on Friday and/or Saturday evening.

Letting my fingers do the walking... (my gawd, am I that old?) I came across this place that offers wings and beer...

https://goo.gl/maps/RXw2xAEZjy9A9P6M7

Looks like a good local pub where we can come and go as our schedules suit.  The reviews are good, it's in a good location in town, and did I mention wings and beer?  (I also have a strong preference for local taverns over chain restaurants... it might be harder to park, but I believe that helps reduce the riff raff.)

Friday is the open house at the AAMR clubhouse, so maybe here for more of a Happy Hour, then we can do one of the bigger joints on Saturday night, or just grab carry out on our way up to the Curve.... or down to Duncansville, or out to Cresson... wherever the wind carries us.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Should we come up with an award for the T shirt with the most obtuse train reference?

Lee
We're staying in Cresson leaving at the crack of dawn tomorrow to try and catch some activity on The Union RR on the way over. We've talked a little about hitting AAMR on Friday evening after the majority of our group rides the EBT earlier in the day. It's s either that or the overlook at Cassandra. Then we make our presence known at the show Sat. I'm sure we'll see ya around.

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone.
I have 2 tables of stuff and I'm willing to deal, I don't want to take this stuff home.
The Moose is packed fueled up and I'll be heading out at 0 dark 30 tomorrow morning,
just hope I can sleep tonight!

Greg O

As a side note, it seems that the yellow stickers for Volvos made it to the US as well...  :)

I would love an early AAMR open house visit and sunset on the rails, but as a captive passenger in someone's vehicle, I shall be open to wherever the wind takes me.

Does Altoona have Uber? I bet it's super cheap if they do.

Can trim cost a little with the busses running to around 9:00pm.

By the way, I finally dragged that old throttle out to try to use it... it seems to be dead.  I checked the fuses, they seem fine, but there doesn't seem to be power getting to anything.  Do you want it back to tinker with or part it out?  Or should I just let it go...?

Lee

I know not of what antique throttle you speak of, Obi Wan.... And I have spare DC handheld throttles to last me now well into post mortem.  So I'd say let it go....    Really looking forward to your modules again, see they are in Dave Ferrari's combined layout with mine.   I know what you mean, my collection has been out of the box since last year.

One thing for me is this year I'm packing Ross Run logging module instead of the Hickory Valley module.  I'll be doing an informal clinic on making my stick trees and filling that in all weekend.

Thanks to Dave Barton.

We made it to near Dayton Ohio today. The moose is doing great.
I should be in Altoona Thursday afternoon.  Gonna stop at the curve, then wander aimlessly around town.

I'll need to get a room for Thursday night as I'm a day early because I caught a couple of green lights along the way.

The official Railwire Happy Hour is taking place at Jack and George's Tavern, https://maps.app.goo.gl/UuXFbvuh1CDt7tyw6

Figure 4 to 7ish.  I'll be there after set up, then after absorbing some refreshments, we'll head over to the AAMR clubhouse to linger with the locals and maybe run some trains.  They were pretty nice about letting us run our own stuff.  The club layout is DCC, Digitrax as I recall.  So if you bring something, keep that in mind.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Just an update to anyone that gives a rats a$$ about these kinda things.

I arrived back in WA. State yesterday around noon, safe and sound. Tallied up 6,257.6 miles on the moose.
What an adventure! It's one I won't do again. (The driving part)
I added up the expenses (Hotels, Gas, Food) then subtracted that from the cash I had left when I got home. After purchasing a few engines, some cars from Rasputen,  t-shirts and other misc. items, I spent time with family in Scranton, and managed a visit to Steamtown with My Grand Niece (7yr old) who is interested in trains, but can't believe that Phoebe Snow still wears white after Labor Day.
I came out +$6.04 ! so I have to consider this to be a great success
Again thanks to those that spent all their lunch money at my table.
Next year if I can make it I will FLY.

For anyone ever considering going to this show, you should make the effort. It was fantastic.

Greag,
Fantastic to meet you.  It is indeed a worthwhile show, and I hope you can persuade some of your left coast comrades to come with next year.

Glad to be able to participate in another great N Scale Weekend! Great to meet people and have fun and run trains! It was great to meet you @x600 and talking to another EL/D&H modeler is always nice.
I was part of the Free-moN layout and New Jersey Southern N Trak, and some videos have been recorded on them. I was also present for Cotton Brute's running on the Altoona club's layout.
