Wrath of Conrail

I remember seeing this for the first time on Futurama, and was beyond excited   
Not only did they do their research to find the reference for the joke, it was executed with the correct lettering font, and a portion of the logo and a good approximation to the color.

The other references in the joke were:
Baltimore and Orion - Nice but not executed as well as Wrath of Conrail
Starlight Express - Which is a musical, not a train
A reference that they are traveling at the speed of light, then and a prism to switch out/classify the train.

Futurama was one of the best. I fell even more in love with it because I was taking a "Perspectives on the Future" course in college when it was still big and new. The course was all about how we have viewed the future in the past, and the show just absolutely nailed so many of the things we talked about in class. Speaking of Conrail heritage, how about some vintage conrail roaming the rails in Utah. I spotted these rare beauties this morning and had to get a picture of them all together.

Two things come to mind here... catching a Chessie car in 2023 is a pretty neat trick, and it looks like the CR museum is on tour

Some former CSX 86' boxes with HCSX marks were used to haul peat out of the Maritimes on CN around 2010ish timeframe. But maybe not the case out in Utah.

No idea, but I've been seeing them a lot over the last 3 months or so.

Seems it was more than HCSX marked cars.
