Why would cutting a tunnel into a closet be a problem?  Unless she had, or was doing, something in the closet she wanted to keep secret.

We live in a 3-bedroom doublewide.  Mom has the master bedroom, at one end, I have a smaller room at the other, and the 3rd, at that same end, is my train room, as well as general storage.  I have part of the layout in the closet, with tunnels on both sides of the (removed) door. Tunnels from there go into my bedroom closet, where the staging is.  Mine, of course, is also used as a closet, about 6 feet long, as both closets are between the end of one section of the trailer and the 3rd bedroom.  They're each about 6 x 4 feet.  So, plenty of tunnels, and none are just scenic!

Unfortunately some spouses are not very accepting or accommodating of husband's hobbies, especially if it requires modifying the walls of a living quarters, or giving up some internal "real estate".  Why?  Who knows. It is all in their personality.

That's one reason why I built the INDIANA RAILWAY in a separate room in the basement that I designed and built.  I know exactly where the studs are.  She was happy, because She knew where I was going and where the Crew ALWAYS was heading.  Now EX-Wife and I got the House!
DIESELS!?!?!?!  We don't need no STINKIN' DIESELS!!!

One of the reasons I'm single, and don't plan on getting married again...ever.

Pete, thank you for reminding me what a lucky man I am to have the wife I do!
Five wall penetrations and two sets of blocked French doors, still living happily ever after...😎

Otto,

All I can say is you've got a winner! Although, mine loves when I say I'm going downstairs because she gets to monopolize the TV. That being said, if I asked to make holes in the walls, or block French doors, the cops would have a missing persons case on their hands. Glenn

Peteski:  Very true, and I've seen it work the other way as well, with the husband not appreciating, or understanding, the wife's interest.
