Pete - thank you very much for the education on pics.  I just spent some time with ‘my gallery’, put two photos in there, used ‘edit’ and eventually figured out that rotating 270 degrees orients them properly.  Feels cumbersome, but I probably just need to spend more time with it all.  And yes, all my photo attachment attempts had been using images from either my ipad or iphone. 

Dumb question - you mentioned something about an upvote on my post?  What is an upvote?

Dwight, re photos orientation using iPhone/iPad. Try taking photos with your iPhone or iPad by holding these devices in sideways landscape fashion, that is with the home button (or where the home button used to be) ie. the bottom in portrait orientation, on the right side.

Yes, as the technology sprints forward and ways of storing digital images change, things get confusing. I would say "get a real digital camera" and no more worries about the photo orientation, but in today's "smart" phone and tablet world, it is nowhere as convenient for most people.  And of course Apple is the company which doesn't care if the way they do something creates problems elsewhere.

Up-vote (and down-vote) is the nifty "respect rating" we have on this forum.  It is the number (positive, zero, or negative) in the upper right of your post. I'll PM you more info.
