Auto-Reverser Wiring for Dogbone crossover?

Hello!

I have an AR1 auto reverser and I totally understand how to hook it up for a reversing loop.  My challenge right now is a layout that's a fake double line main dogbone that needs a crossover at some point.  How could I use my AR1 to prevent a short here?  Would I just isolate the crossover turnouts and hook it up to that? Or would that be too short?  Or would I need to isolate the ends of the dogbone loops and have an AR1 for each?  Has anyone ever wired up something like this?

The block controlled by the AR1 needs to be long enough to hold an entire train.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

That's correct. But if it's just a simple dogbone, you maybe able to get away with just the one AR by placing your gaps to insulate half the dogbone on the frog side of the crossover; three double gaps. One end of the dogbone becomes your reversing loop.
Good luck.

I make both loops reversing blocks due to multiple crossovers between. Gaps are up against the closest crossover to each. In my case the 24"R loops hold the longest train I expect to run.

Most of my layout is a double-track main line.  I have a temporary loop connecting the two mains as I am as far as I can go now with Phase 1 of construction.  I used an AR-1 and insulating rail joiners right after each turnout.  The loop is about 7 feet in length, so easily would hold a transition-era train.  It works like a charm.
