On the volunteer run, heritage Pichi Richi Railway's ex Commonwealth Railways, Sulzer-powered, 3'6" gauge diesel-electric NSU52 works the 'Afghan Explorer' from Quorn to Port Augusta in South Australia, seen near Saltia in the Lower Flinders Ranges on Saturday 29 October 2022. Until this line was by-passed by a new standard gauge railway to Maree in 1957, it formed part of the route taken by the legendary narrow gauge Ghan service between Port Augusta and Alice Springs.

A few more from this year:

1) Westbound baretables on the MRL that I chased from Livingston to Helena (I was going to Helena anyways, always good to have a chase train for the drive) at Louisville, MT.
2) Local Power gathered up at Logan and heading to Bozeman with traffic for a Laurel - Bozeman turn. 3 x GP35, 1 x SD40.
3) Just past sundown, the night Gas Local races westbound along the Flathead River. To say that the country is beautiful out here is to understate the obvious.

4) A five pack of SD70ACe helpers at Blossburg, MT... temperature was close to zero, a nice afternoon at the summit.
