I finished weathering my Rock Island E8's this morning.

These are Life-Like shells mounted on Kato mechanisms.  I added a few details and decals to make them a bit more prototypical.

The Rock Island line is a might good line,
The Rock Island line is a might good line ...

Good song ... and your version of the line certainly proves it true .

Congrats on your fine modeling.

Things I did include, but are not limited to, shrinking things:

and running out of MTL 2004s halfway through the job (in this case, a test run that Shapeways managed to deliver quite warped but it still works for the principle purpose, that of testing truck clearances):

@GhengisKong

Working up the piers and substructure for the old Route 66 bridge across the Arkansas here in Tulsa. The first one was pretty much as close as I could get it and it ended up being substantially larger than we'd need... so I went back and shortened each section, reduced the number of cross members, etc. If you'll be at CNS tomorrow, I can bring it along.

Ah very nice. Was the plan to be a 1950s representation? Also, 50/50 if I'm going tonight.

My understanding is a 1950s era representation, so the only bridges present will be the Frisco double track (sadly, due to it being an NTrak main I have been forced to compromise on adding a third track and widening the track spacing) and the Route 66 bridge... the freeway bridges are late '60s and the Southwest Ave bridge - or whatever it's called - is at least that date or later so those will be disregarded.

Presently printing round two of the Frisco bridge supports, and the third round should be the final plan when I figure out how to do an easy stone shape for the stone piers.
