ScaleTrains Announces SD45X in HO. Say what?

I didn't find frame length of the SD45X but it must be close to that of the SD40T-2.  The Body is basically a SD45 with a fourth radiator fan.

The SD45X, SDP45, SD40A, SD40T-2 and the SD45T-2 all use the same frame at 70'8" and 45' 2"  truck centers.

SD40A rides on SDP45 frame with only 18 units built for Illinois Central.

Athearn just did SDP45s in Genesis, so I would assume that ScaleTrains would wait on that market to reset, but strange things have happened.

When I saw the email from scale trains with the title"SD45X", I was pretty excited....till I saw it was in HO. I did send them an email inquiring about dong the model in N scale. I pointed out in the email, as others here on this tread had done that the development costs for the chassis would be a good investment for other models. I got an autoreply that they will respond in a few days. We shall see...

The SD45X is a cool looking unit but I think a SD40A would have a broader appeal and far more paint schemes. One even made it into CN colors. Some rebuilt SD45/SD40M-2's would also be a welcome addition particularly the CEFX units.

Didn't know any SD40A's wore CN colors. I do recall shooting CP's former SOO SD40A's on the Belleville Sub in the 90's, may have seen one is SOO paint as well but can't recall.
