Question regarding "The trading post"
« on: June 04, 2022, 12:58:57 AM »
I have posted a few (very) items for sale on The Trading Post over many years. In fact I posted a singe listing a couple of weeks ago.

Imagine my surprise when TRW member W Neel starts selling what seems a hobby shop full of items.  As a result my listing is no longer visible.

Is  such seemingly commercial selling the purpose of The Trading Post ?  It seems like an overstep to me.

Just curious...

I don’t think it’s an overstep, because I sold off more than 90% of my N scale fleet several years ago in the Trading Post.  The difference is that I listed everything under one thread, so I didn’t take over the forum.

Large collections are usual from what I recall. Feel free to bump your post with an update to keep it current.

Sometimes it's timing too.  If you had posted your ad(s) two months ago, it would have sat there for quite awhile with top exposure.

Wait until his dust settles then bump yours or start a new one.

Some thoughts on posting things in Trading Post

1) Private sales only (garage sales) -- if you buy and sell collections, it's ok to make a first post here to give folks a chance at a deal, but please follow 2,3,4,5 below

2) If you list a lot of items, it's best to make it a list in one or two posts, then delete stuff as you sell it.

3) questions and responses should go to PM if possible

4) When all your items are sold - please let us know so we can delete the posts or we will delete old posts routinely (usually older than 30 days)

5) If you added pictures using the gallery, please delete those also after the sale, or use your own hosting service

6) Bumping is really not needed -- and adds clutter ..
