P:87 standards are basically N scale RP-25.  If one can lay N scale turnouts, especially with code 70 rail, P:87 wouldn't be any different.

In the other direction, if you need an odd-sized wheel in N scale, an HO 64-tread wheel works fine.  Nickelplate759 did that with his ancient Arnold/Rapido FA, and several of us have followed his lead.  Those things had oversized wheels, and an HO 26 inch works beautifully.

Next try, with re-balancing some of the relative sound levels.  This has more of the traction motor sound when the PM goes into higher notches.

The flange squeal sounds seem to come across as louder in the video, vs. watching in-person.
