A certain site in Colorado has some (older ones) listed for $50 if anybody can't wait!

Wasn't sure to reply to this topic or start a new one, but found out by accident that Spring Creek Hobbies has a special run of Intermountain/FVM Autoracks ROCK Autoracks in Bankruptcy Blue that they are taking preorders for:

Should be interesting to try to get body-mounted couplers onto those  :scared:

MTL 2004 couplers mount perfectly on this model. I’ve converted dozens. Mounts directly to the underside of the plastic floor, just drill and tap for #00-90 screws.

What kind of curve radii can those negotiate?

I don’t use less than 16” radius so at least that. You probably could get away with 11” but the cars would look silly.

I've got half a dozen ordered and will probably also pick up a couple in the Rock Island blue scheme. These, along with the ST racks I have on order, should finish off my autorack train.  Maybe one day when I'm bored I'll add up the cost of that train. But I probably really don't want to know. 😱

Min radius is listed as 15" on the product page.

Much as I hate to take anything away from Matt, you all need to know Scaletrains Gunderson Multimax is due early December around $55  with deals for multiple buys.  I believe their quality speaks for itself.  I know where MY dough is going...

Interesting, I don't remember what the Red Caboose produced ones had for an "advertised" radius, but they run on less than 15" for sure.

That's a viable strategy if all someone wants is a nice autorack. For those of us who model the quarter-century or so starting when fully-enclosed autoracks became common to 2013 when the Gunderson car was introduced, our only options are the FVM and MTL cars.

FWIW, I got an email from Fifer about my pre-order about 2 weeks ago when Intermountain said the container was on the water, but a better update wouldn't be available until the end of the month.

Some nice looking schemes in this batch.  I'll definitely be in for some (e.g. CSX, KCS, CN, Ferromex, BNSF, UP  @ $69.95 ea :scared:...)

I see they're showing a new batch of 5161 hoppers In Transit as well.  I have all the BNSF I'll likely ever need, but a few of the heritage schemes (NP, BN) and a few more UP would be nice.  Just in time for my latest 3d print project. ;)

Skimming down their reservation page, I see the 3281 hoppers are still Confirmed for Production, 5 years out.  I also don't remember Trainworx announcing pup trailers, but there they are near the bottom of the page, due 1st Qtr 2021...  Those will be nice, so just as well they're not here yet, budget-wise.

I have pre-orders for the 5161, 3281, and the LTL tractors to go with my Digcom trailers I already have.  While I want stuff to show up, I'm glad it's not all at the same time

The Trainworx Pup Trailers of the LTL ilk were announced in April of 2020, based on their website. I think there was a thread here about them, not sure, I haven't searched for it recently.
