CN derailment and crash Prescott ON 2 Sep 21

Ontario Provincial Police say one person was treated for minor injuries after two freight trains collided in Prescott, Ont. Thursday morning, causing 16 rail cars to leave the tracks. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

If I had to guess, based on what looks like the train colliding with cars/another train in a siding, that a switch was left open to the siding in dark territory.  Or if it was a head-on as is being reported, then perhaps the train switching on the siding blew through the switch and on to the main track.
