Surely you have a window somewhere? Or a dryer vent you can tap into for exhaust? The alternative is to brush on the paint--that's what I do nowadays.

No windows in my train room unfortunately. The rest of the basement has windows but is also fully finished.  I could have my son make a vacuum fan that sucks air into a filter I suppose.

A filter won't take care of the volatiles, and they're what's dangerous.

@CBQ Fan your best bet may be to spray an acrylic base coat, in order to avoid solvent fumes.  I did this and then brushed on craft paint accent colors.

You may try acrylics... I used that rustoleum on the bulk of my layout, did a little bit of track changes down the line and painted the rest with Vallejo acrylic dark umber (iirc). A very close match, and after I apply rust tones via pan pastel it gets even less noticeable. Not sure how the Vallejo will hold up long term, so far haven’t had any come off while ballasting and detailing etc.
