New Atlas Code55 rail joiners

Just to play with I bought an Atlas Z scale code 55 turnout. It came with joiners that are about half as long as regular Atlas C55 joiners. Well now they sell those joiners separate.

A lot of times I would cut regular joiners in half so I didn't have to trim so many ties away. Plus the smaller joiner just looks better. As for joiners... scale means nothing. Code 55 rail is .055" tall rail in any scale.

Run out and buy some with those stimulus checks!  :D

Well, given the situation most of us are in, maybe "run to your computer and order some for contact-free delivery!"

Thank you. Seriously, thank you.

I've been cutting the regular N scale joiners in half for the entire three years of layout construction. With a Dremel, since using flush cutters, etc., crimps the cut and I have to then use an X-acto to un-crimp. Then if I cut on the layout with the Dremel and let the cut piece drop on the foam, it's lost because the heat melts a crater about 1/2" deep. Either way, it's a royal PITA.

In the end it may cost more, but, dammit, I'll gladly trade a few pennies in exchange for (a lot) less time and aggravation.

I was sliding them up on a piece of rail and slicing them with .009" discs. After you slide them off the rail and they should still be open on the cut end.

Z scale stuff we can use. Couplers a d now rail joiners. I say thanks, too. I will use them. Do wonder if they would work as well on curves?  Also, I occasionally pull the rails out when using track cleaners. That probably wont get help matters.

If you solder the rails before bending them, they should work well on curves.  If you lay your track first, then solder the joints, probably not as well as the longer ones.

Thanks for that info Chris. 8)  Would it be too much trouble for you to get a length measurement on those?  :|

Now they just need to do the insulated rail joiners as well.

Photo:

I'd guess they are made on the same machine, just set for shorter. 0.235" long.
