While on our honeymoon in May, my wife and I stumbled across a few trains while traveling around.

A steam tourist railway by the Glenfinnan viaduct.

The station at Dalmally, which still hosts trains, but is privately owned and is now an AirBnB, which we stayed at for a night. Would highly recommend!

Back in the states and back to work, an eastbound CSX coal train approaches Fulton yard in Richmond.

Thanks for looking,

Caleb.

I never got a chance to snag a picture when I was there, but Stone Brewing’s Richmond Brewery is right down and to the left from the locomotive in that last picture. Cool spot!

Not a tourist railway in the strictest sense. This is a working railway with timetabled diesel railcar services operated by ScotRail all year round with the track owned by the national track manager Network Rail. The steam locomotive and rolling stock are hired in during the summer for additional tourist services over the line from Fort William to Mallaig.

I wonder if those orange ratchet straps came from Harbor Freight?
I got better ones at Tractor Supply.

My wife is from Scotland and we have taken that trip several times over the years, when visiting her family. it is spectacular. I love getting off the train in Mallaig, going to the chip shop for fish n chips ( and an Iron Bru) and eating them at the docks whilst watching he boats come and go. Then a Islay single malt in front of a coal fire back at the hotel in Ft William in the evening.  Nothing better.
