Challenge #3 - N Scale Ashland, Virginia T-TRAK Module

I already started a thread several weeks ago on my planned N Scale Ashland, Virginia T-TRAK double module.  This photo of a section of downtown Ashland is essentially the area that will be modeled, selectively compressed as necessary to fit the double module.  The module is based around Ashland's Amtrak (former RF&P) station:



To show where I am currently on the construction, as of my formal announcement on March 7, 2019 that I'm participating in this challenge, here's the module's current state- the T-TRAK double module box is built, the track is installed and wired, and I have painted the ties (the rails still need to be painted):

Too bad you're not working double depth... looks like that Coldwell Banker building might have been a rail served industry at some point in the last 100 years or so...

Looking forward to seeing this come to life.  I suppose you'll be scratching out the Ashland station... let me know if I can lend a hand drawing it up, or measuring it next time I go to Richmond!

I'd have to go check a map to confirm, but I recall perusing a map or photo of Ashland in the distant past, and that right-of-way you see might actually be the remnants of a wye!

Looking forward to seeing this come to life.  I suppose you'll be scratching out the Ashland station... let me know if I can lend a hand drawing it up, or measuring it next time I go to Richmond!

Yes, I could definitely use photos and dimensions.  You've been a big help to me over the years.  Thankfully, I kept your homework on the Aberdeen station, because I need to build another one of those in HO scale.  I'll also need to reuse your dimensions for those Carolina-style highway bridges, because I'll need one of those in HO, too!

Yes, sir!  It still lives on my daughter's N scale layout.  She has taken good care of it.  That's it hiding just above the middle passenger car in the photo below.  We have since relocated the station, and, today, it resides where the NCE DCC controller is resting in the picture.



Oh, and Foam Depot still lives on top of that mountain.

I know you don't expect to have this ready for the challenge deadline, but I wanted to let you know that I'll be passing through Ashland several times over the next couple of weeks.
We're taking my step-daughter and niece on a college tour to Williamsburg and North Carolina this weekend, then next weekend Andy and I will be heading to Raleigh for Brewgaloo https://shoplocalraleigh.org/brewgaloo/... America's Number One Beer Festival according to USA Today.  (I'm biased because my brother invented it...)

So odds are I'll be able to stop and take some pictures and general dimensions of the station and main street areas for you.

If it's after the beer fest, I cannot guarantee the accuracy of the measurements.
