Something else to try: hit the matte medium sludge with some India ink wash.

So Ed, you'll be at Altoona with your dad?

Yep. He and my mom are bringing modules for the layout (including this and my "Penn Central Corner").

I'm coming as well, but I won't be quite as tied to a layout. I'm usually there some time Saturday morning until I've bought everything I want (well, or should).

A few more pics after our latest work session.

We're ameliorating the matte medium residue, but there's still more to do.

The equipment here is all his.

We've still got to add some trees and get the turnout working again. The throwbar seems to have come disconnected from the points.

He'll be bringing it to the Altoona N Scale weekend so you can see it in person.

For that early era, though, wasn't the PRR right of way impeccable, even in rural areas. I.e. perfect track, ballast and weed control, etc.  And the building would have been clean and fresh?

Mainlines yes.

Branchlines, well, maybe not.

However, this isn't ACTUALLY an early 20th century project. It's actually intended to be the PC era.

Wonder if Win Gross was working the tower that day in Paoli.
