New Kato SD70ACe tooling

Minor, but welcome news from Kato: they are tooling a new cab for their SD70ACe featuring a low nose headlight, and (perhaps?) an isolation cab:

Maybe this is a good time to lobby them for a Norfolk Southern high-headlight C44-9W.  ;)

Kato has already done the isolated cab (the NS units). They have been sitting on that tooling for a long time. So the only real news is the nose headlight, which is long overdue. The ESU sound is a nice addition too. Maybe this comes with an improved truck design as well.

I really wish they would work with ESU for a drop in decoder like Atlas/IM has,

I'm sure they'll come out with one once I've finished adapting one of the current boards to much of my Kato fleet. ;)

Not that I mind it, but you can tell they are “rushing” to get this to market first. I was kinda surprised to an extent that it was the only model announced with the new tooling.

Oh well, hopefully once they are done they announce more roads.

You do know that they're also doing 3 other UP numbers?

Montana Rail Link would be a nice choice for this cab.  They'll almost certainly do BNSF as well.

Thanks for the heads up - I hadn't noticed the isolation cab on the NS models.  I agree that they overreached a bit with the truck design.

Nice, this are UP class SD70AH. Pretty cool that they are also doing 9088, 1943 partner on her tour.

It would be good for a SD70M-2 with the Trainworx detail kit.

Yes I did, but I guess I should have implied more than just the UP. I’m getting 9088 just because they are pretty much a pair.

I was implying that BNSF, EMD demo units, MRL, or A&M versions could be done off this tooling too. (I’m sure I’ve missed some too)

FVM has already done the A&M units though... :? I have all three... Besides the bell not being on the cab and the roof not being entirely black I don't see to many other problems.
